What is the Gospel?

Many people call many different things "The Gospel." But there is really only one true Gospel, and St. Paul tells us what it is in 1 Cor. 15:1-4,

"Now I make known to you brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,
by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered
to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was
buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures..."

That's it. Jesus died, was buried, and rose again. Pretty simple, huh? Think about it. Mull it around your brain for a while.

There's more stuff, of course there is. But that's the basic gist of it. Because if you can get your head around those seven words, and
hang on to them, you can have an understanding and a faith that people live for.

What other stuff would you like to know? Okay, here are some basic facts that may help you along:

-- We are human. Therefore, we are imperfect. We mess up. We are sinners.

-- God loves us anyway.

-- Unfortunately, we can't go to Heaven and be in His presence as sinners, because He is totally holy.

-- But He loves us so much, He made a way for us.

-- Enter Jesus and those seven words.

-- Jesus, who is God, as well as God's Son (mull THAT one around for a while!), came to earth, lived a perfect, sinless life,
then died as a sacrifice for our sins. He was buried, and on the 3rd day, he was resurrected. All according to the Scriptures.

-- If we have faith in Jesus, God forgives us for our sins and we become His children. We are covered under the Blood of Jesus, and
we can go to Heaven to be with Him.

-- All this is available to us because of God's grace, and through our faith in Jesus Christ. So believe!
